Dish and Design celebrates food, drink, autumn decor and ‘witchy vibes’

Attendees and presenters at the autumn edition of Homestyle’s Dish and Design event wrapped their collective arms around the fall season with an evening of on-trend design ideas and comforting food and cocktails.

The more than 130 guests at Wednesday’s sold-out event streamed into the Great Lakes Culinary Center in Southfield, where the staff served wine, beer and a special sangria, plus an array of appetizers. The seasonal spread included dips, a vegetable pasta salad, curry carrots with hummus and a decadent s’mores dip with graham crackers.

After a welcome introduction from host, Detroit News editor and Homestyle columnist Maureen Feighan, Dish and Design was underway with a presentation from award-winning floral designer Jerry Baker from Blossoms, a full-service florist on Woodward in Royal Oak.

Baker showcased how to deck out grapevine wreaths with wheat, cattails, feathers and other items that you can buy from Blossoms, or even Michaels or JoAnn Fabric and Crafts. Add a Halloween touch to your autumn wreath with just a few fun extras.
