We’re already hard at work on our sixth annual REAL SIMPLE Home, a waterfront penthouse, in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., just minutes from the Brooklyn Bridge. We’ve recruited six brilliant designers to help bring to life all the genius design and organizing ideas we’re known for. While the full reveal won’t happen until September (in the October issue and right here on RealSimple.com), we’ll be sharing updates and sneak peeks along the way throughout the next four months. First up, meet the designers!
Bobby Berk
Designing: Living Room
Bobby Berk is an Emmy-nominated TV host known for his work transforming lives and living spaces on Netflix’s Queer Eye and the founder of an eponymous lifestyle brand, including BobbyBerk.com. In 2020, Architectural Digest called Bobby one of the “most famous interior designers working today.” His first book, Right at Home: How Good Design Is Good For The Mind, hits shelves in September.

Designing: Home Office
Michelle Gage is a Philadelphia-based interior designer with an affinity for playful prints and whimsical designs. Her career began as a buyer for Anthropologie Home, where she was tasked with selecting everything from art and antiques to decorative textiles. She delights in designing magical spaces—combining her clients’ personal tastes with her artful eye.
Linda Hayslett
Designing: Roof Deck
Los Angeles-based Linda Hayslett has worked at VH1, Allure, W, Details, and InStyle, and she brings that strong editorial point of view to her luxe design work, infusing a warmth that a contractor or architect along cannot provide. She was named one of House Beautiful’s Next Wave Designers in 2020.
Megan Hopp
Designing: Bedroom
Megan Hopp is the founder and principal of Megan Hopp Design, known for the diversity of its client roster, from short-term rentals to gut renovations. Color and pattern are the pillars of Megan’s aesthetic, but she feels it’s her job to create spaces that are an extension of her clients’ own style.
David Quarles

Designing: Primary Bedroom
David Quarles is a Memphis-based interior designer, jewelry designer, content creator and fitness instructor—a true polymath. His philosophy on life stems from doing and creating all things from a place of love. David says his African-American, Afro-Caribbean, European and Indigenous-American background most influences his work, which is marked by bold colors, prints, and patterns, and a sophisticated elegance.

Designing: Dining Room and Kitchen
Kim and Scott Vargo are Chicago-based content creators behind the home design, DIY and lifestyle brand Yellow Brick Home. They take care and pride in nurturing vintage homes back to health, enjoying the process as much as the finished product. Their renovation adventures are shared with quirk, heart, and honesty, and they believe that every home has a story to tell.
