Clydebank schools amongst national design finalists

Designs by Linnvale Primary and Gavinburn Primary are two of 42 entries to make it through to the final of this year’s Pocket Garden Design Competition, inspired by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful.

It is the second year in a row that Linnvale have made it through to the last stage of Scotland-wide competition, with nearly 200 schools submitting budding garden designs based on a certain theme each year.

Renfrewshire schools shortlisted in Pocket Garden contest

Newmains Primary, in Renfrew, and Ralston Primary, in Paisley, are among 42 schools to be shortlisted in this year’s Pocket Garden Design competition.

The contest, run by Keep Scotland Beautiful, saw pupils across the country being encouraged to develop designs for a garden reflecting the interlinked themes of A Garden of Celebration, One Planet Picnic and Wildlife Gardening.

This year’s finalists have now been invited to build and grow their garden at school before filming or photographing it to be displayed as part of an online interactive showcase garden which will be made available to the public this summer.

Rosneath Primary: Pocket garden design entry wins place in final

Rosneath Primary has been selected as a finalist for the 2023 Pocket Garden Design Competition out of almost 200 entrants across 28 local authorities.

It’s the second year in a row that pupils from Rosneath have made it through to the national final.

The 42 designs have now been invited to build their garden and film or photograph it as part of an online showcase to the public in June.

Clacks pupil wins garden design contest

Jackson Mackenzie, an S1 pupil at Clackmannanshire Schools’ Support Service, won the eighth edition of the contest with his bus-shaped garden design.

His garden touched on his love for buses and will include a bug hotel, bird feeders, wild flowers and bulbs.

Organised by Keep Scotland Beautiful, the competition aims to showcase school pupil’s imaginations and promote sustainability through their designs.
